4 things I've done differently to improve client communications in my business

Many freelancers/small business owners/entrepreneurs go into business thinking that doing the actual work will be the most challenging part of their job. But in many cases, it’s actually client communications and management that can be the scariest or hardest part of their day. Who’d have thought that?!

Client communication can have its ups and downs, there’s no denying it. Anytime you’re dealing with people and their businesses, there’s an emotional component that can’t be ignored. But now that I’ve been in business for several years, I finally feel like I’m getting a handle on things.

Since I started my business, I’ve made countless changes to my process and learned a LOT about the best way to work with clients. Sometimes that means retraining my brain on the type of language to use, other times it means implementing new organization strategies. I can anticipate what various pushback points might be and I’m able to get ahead of the situation and keep everyone happy.

I’m not saying that I’m perfect or that I’m an expert in client communications, but I’ve definitely learned a lot and want to share those lessons with you today!

July 2018 Recap

Welly HELLO summer, aren't you a treat? I find it hard to believe that it's time for another monthly recap post already but here we are, it's been a good one. Summer is my absolute favourite time of year and even though it's been hella hot, you won't find me complaining!

This marks the 5th post in my monthly recap blog posts where I share a behind the scenes look at my business and life as an entrepreneur and digital nomad. I love having this space to record the highs and lows and show you how I spend my time away from my laptop.

I really enjoy seeing little glimpses of the personal lives of my fellow business owners, freelancers and entrepreneurs because it makes me feel like I know them as real people, you know? I’m hoping you enjoy reading these posts from me too! I’m a firm believer that business can be professional AND fun and I’m so excited to share what I get up to every month. Plus, the pics are fun to creep :)

July was a wonderfully grounding month and my first full month back home in Canada since my travels in Asia as a digital nomad. I settled back into normal life and did some good work. It felt balanced and chill, which is exactly what I wanted after all the insane travel and changes experienced back in June

Let’s dive right in and take a look, shall we?

What should you be doing every week to grow you online business?

Entrepreneurs, freelancers, online business owners… gather round everyone, ‘cause this conversation applies to all of you!

Today we are going to go over the extra things you should be doing every week in addition to your regular tasks in order to grow your online business

Now, those of us who don't work a traditional 9-5 job will know that an outrageous amount of time spent working on our business isn't actually related to the products/services that we’re focused on.

For example, you'd think that as a web designer/developer I spend most of my time building and designing websites. LOL nope! While that's definitely how I spend a lot of my working hours, there's a whole lot more to my business than that. Think: content creation, social media, marketing, accounting, promotion, etc. That’s something that surprises many of us when we start out on our own, just how many hats we will have to wear in order to grow a successful business!

Obviously, you are going to do the work directly related to your business. This could mean delivering services to your clients,  creating/updating products, hosting events, whatever. But your work also includes marketing the business, content creation, continuing education, emails, etc.

If you’re on my site and reading my blog posts, I’m guessing your goal isn’t just to stay afloat - you're here to thrive in business. That’s why it’s SO important to consider the other business related activities that will help you grow and reach new milestones as an entrepreneur!

These are things I do every week and they have been vital to my success in business so far. I consider them non-negotiables of the best sort and I'm excited to share them with you today!

Let's take a look.
