Updating your website during the COVID-19 pandemic

Let’s cut right to the chase: we’re several weeks into the COVID-19 global pandemic and sh*t’s getting real.

These are absolutely wild and crazy times and I often catch myself thinking, what in the actual heck is going on right now?!?!?!?!?

We’ve never experienced anything like this - the whole Corona virus situation and it’s impact on the world is truly unprecedented.

Personally, I feel like I’m stuck on an emotional rollercoaster and I don’t know when it’ll end. Some days are great, I feel high vibe and excited about work…. whereas other days are a struggle because I get so caught up in the hardships and challenges we’re facing collectively.

That being said, now more than ever I want to SHOW UP and YOU in any way that I can! Whether that’s my audience of casual blog readers, my amazing newsletter community or my beloved clients & customers, I am here to help you as best as I can.

My area of expertise is obviously Squarespace web design/development and Squarespace SEO, so that’s what I’m going to go over here today.

My inbox has BLOWN UP over the past few weeks with panicked questions from people who need help with their websites now. Many businesses are moving online (no easy task), and everyone is looking for help updating website content, collecting orders, setting up email newsletters to communicate with clients & customers, ramping up SEO... it’s a lot!

In this blog post, I’m going to share actionable updates you can make TODAY to your website to make sure that you’re totally covered during the COVID-19 pandemic. I will use lots of Squarespace-specific tips/recommendations but even if your website runs on another platform, I know you will still find these instructions helpful!

Why I'm starting daily Instagram Live Q&A video trainings to support my web design & SEO clients during the COVID-19 global pandemic

Real talk: the past few weeks have been a total whirlwind.

I don’t know what to say, and I often wonder if I should just stay quiet and not add to the “noise”.

But since Covid-19 has fully reared it’s head, I’ve had a change of heart.

Up to this point, I’ve only ever used Instagram in a personal way... sharing little bits of my life with friends & family (+ a few others ).

I’ve kept business completely separate, serving people like you exclusively through my website & email marketing.

That’s been great up until now - but I know I can be doing more!

Over the last 3 weeks, my inbox has BLOWN UP with panicked questions from people who need help with their websites NOW.

Many businesses are moving online (no easy task), and everyone is looking for help updating content, collecting orders, setting up email newsletters to communicate with clients & customers, ramping up SEO... it’s a lot!

Luckily I can actually DO something to support these people & businesses!

Interview with Saturday Haus for the "Behind My Business" Series

I was recently interviewed by the babes over at Saturday Haus as part of their “Behind My Business” series and I’m so excited to share that conversation with you!

Saturday Haus is a community of female entrepreneurs who stand for balance over hustle, which is definitely something I can get behind. As a small business owner and one-woman-show, I was particularly keen to share my story and hope that inspires my fellow boss babes!

Take a look and let me know what you think! :)

Our biggest online business flops & failures - Guest episode on the Online Business Besties podcast

You know how they always say that “Good things come in three’s”?

Well I have to say that in today’s case, this is DEFINITELY TRUE!

I’m super excited to let you all know that I’m back for a third guest appearance on the Online Business Besties podcast, hosted by my own biz bestie Paige Brunton!

Whether we’re chatting online on our weekly mastermind Zoom calls or getting together in Toronto or Bali to record a podcast in person, we always have so much fun together and I’m thrilled that you can listen in while we talk shop and generally shoot the sh*t in the best way possible :)

In case you missed my previous guest appearances on Paige’s Online Business Besties podcast, here are the links to listen to those episodes:

Annnnnyways, we always have so much fun collaborating together and I was thrilled that Paige asked me back again on the podcast!

We recorded this episode in-person when we were both working remotely in Bali a few months ago. On the afternoon in question, we crammed ourselves into a tiny, teeny, minuscule little Skype room at a local co-working space and ended up having a really FUN yet open & honest conversation about our biggest online business flops and failures.

These are the kind of things that are a little awkward to talk about on your own so I’m super glad that we were able to tag team this topic, share our own experience, be vulnerable but also laugh about our mistakes (believe me, we’ve definitely made them)!

This conversation is packed full of practical information, as well as insights into our own work as Squarespace web designers/developers, and I know you’ll get a kick out of listening to the two of us shoot the sh*t while still delivering a value-packed conversation.
