How to up-level your business and charge more for your services as a web designer | Top squarespace SEO online course

Hello hello! We’re mixing things up with today’s blog post by shining the spotlight on two students from my Top Squarespace SEO course because I am so proud of them that I could burst. This isn’t any old “case study” either, instead it’s my chance to shamelessly share (read: flaunt) the achievements of my students, support their business growth and plant some ideas in YOUR head about how you too can reach the next level with your tech skills and online business.

Alright, without further ado, I want you to meet Michelle from Perspective Studio and Patricia from ZUK Design Studio.

These lovely ladies both run their own web design & development studios. They head up their teams, manage custom design projects, bring in new business, direct brand strategy and are generally killing it with their online businesses.

Whether they're working with creative entrepreneurs, small businesses or non-profits, Michelle and Patricia create beautiful Squarespace websites for their clients in all sorts of industries.

But recently, they stepped up their game and improved their web design services packages.

They also increased their rates, which means they’re bringing in more money every month and upping their business' bottom line.

It's exciting stuff and I am so excited to share their success stories with you!

Alright, here's how this all went down:

Both Michelle and Patricia had the design and branding aspect of web design/development on lockdown already. They were consistently creating gorgeous sites for their clients in a variety of industries, and things were going well.

But pretty websites weren't enough and their clients were increasingly asking about SEO (search engine optimization). Michelle and Patricia were charging thousands of dollars for their custom Squarespace website design projects and their clients wanted to make sure that SEO was a priority and they were getting the most bang for their buck - rightfully so.

Having a beautiful website is one thing- honestly, with enough patience, just about anyone can customize a Squarespace template and end up with a nice looking site. One of the most effective ways to grow a website is through SEO - it’s cost effective, there are settings already in place on all Squarespace websites that you can take advantage of, and it contributes to long term growth and conversions.

This presented a problem because while their clients understood the value of SEO and how it could be leveraged to grow their websites/businesses, neither Michelle nor Patricia were experts at SEO. They knew the basics but didn't have a deep technical understanding of how to do this.

According to Michelle

"I felt like I had only just scratched the surface of SEO. I knew basics, but didn't quite know how it all worked together, especially within the Squarespace framework."

Patricia was in a similar boat:
